Who loves snacks? I do, I do. Okay, I’m singing a little song in my head, but really, who doesn’t want easy, convenient, healthy snacks that they know are good for them and made from real food?

Sign me up.

We’re all busy people with busy lives. One of the things that most people struggle with is having great tasting, “good-for-you” food that they can take with them on the go. Eating real for breakfast and dinner is pretty straight-forward, but it’s the in-between meals that we sometimes get stuck on. Also, the dreaded “hanger” has a way of luring us into grabbing convenience food that isn’t good for us or for the kiddos. With that in mind, I present you with 10 delicious whole food snacks that you can keep in your pack when hunger attacks and you can feel good knowing that the food is real.

1. Chocolate Peanut Butter Monkey Bars

With a name like that, it just makes you feel like a kid. Not only are these little gems packed with flavor but they’re big on protein and natural fats. Oh, and your kids will love them too :)

2. The “Best” Almond Butter Protein “Bars”

Best is obviously a relative term, but how about bars? Not following me yet? Well, these aren’t actually protein bars. They’re protein balls. But you could always call them protein bars in a globe like shape. Honestly, I don’t care what you call them. Just don’t call them bad. Words like amazing, incredible, heavenly, and divine might spring to your lips while eating these delicious protein “bars” inspired by Shelley Adams, author of Whitewater Cooks.

3. Insanity Styled Roasted Red Pepper Hummus

This is the perfect snack to keep in your bag in a lock tight container alongside a bag of fresh veggies like carrots, red peppers or celery. This yummy snack is full of protein, slow carbs, good fat, and is super colorful. Just make sure you’ve got a well sealed container.

4. Blueberry Basil Muffins with Sprouted Flour and Blue Cornmeal

If you really want the coworkers – or the kids classmates – to love you, then bake up a batch of these and watch them smile with delight.  You’ll make real food believers out of them in no time.

5. Salt & Pepper Yam Chips

Sometimes you’re just craving something salty and crunchy, but you don’t want to reach for that bag of processed veggie oil drenched potatoes. Here’s a healthier take on potato chips that uses delicious yams which have more nutritional benefits than plane Jane white potatoes.

6. Three Berry Scones With Apple Butter

These are another little gem of a treat that have a smooth, simple, and lovely flavor. These berry scones make me happy just thinking about them.

7. Homemade Almond Power Bars for Non-Lazy People

If you’re an athlete then these are made for you. If you’re not, then it’s best to stay away from these – or at the very least, indulge sparingly. I love to pack these when I’m out skiing all day. They are loaded with protein, fat, and slow carbs and are great for keeping my energy up during high intensity activities.

8. Walnut Feta Cheese Dip With Veggies

Here’s another great snack to keep in the pack – but make sure it’s in a lock-tight container. This yummy walnut feta dip pairs well with mixed veggies, so throw some chopped up carrots, peppers, celery, and broccoli in a zip-lock bag and you’ll be set to manage the munchies in style.

9. Dried Cherry, Almond & Black Pepper Biscotti

This really is the perfect snack to go with mid-morning or mid-afternoon coffee. It’s crunchy and flavorful just like a biscotti should be, and it’s totally okay to dip it in your cup o’ java.  Feel free to bring a few extra for your friends or coworkers.

10. Chocolate Chip Walnut Protein Cookies

Now here is a cookie that you can enjoy guilt free. These babies are loaded with protein and good fiber, and, best of all, they don’t use any of that processed protein powder crap. The whole family will love them.
